2023 Volvo V60 Cross Country
The Volvo V60 is a sleek mix between the tiny S60 premium sedan and the crossover XC60. The V60 looks good from the outside, has an extended roof, and has a lot of space for carrying things. Volvo also offers the elevated Cross Country variant, which provides a bit more capability where the road ends for those who require a little extra ride height.

What we believe
The Volvo V60 lineup has been reduced to just two models, each with its engine. The V60 Recharge T8 Polestar Engineered is a high-performance plug-in hybrid, while the V60 Cross Country is an adventure wagon with a lifted roof. The former is a one-of-a-kind offering in the performance compact class. Polestar’s electrified all-wheel-drive system accelerates the V60 Recharge quickly and efficiently. Despite its rakish styling and hybrid power, the V60 Recharge T8 Polestar Engineered’s powertrain could use some refinement.
Additionally, Volvo offers the V60 Cross Country, which has an all-wheel-drive system and a mild hybrid engine. This model is somewhere between a wagon and a crossover, yet the V60’s beautiful look is undeniable. Furthermore, the higher suspension of the V60 Cross Country allows it to traverse areas where the ordinary V60 cannot.
Apart from minor visual changes for 2023, the V60 range gets a new infotainment system based on Google’s Android operating system. This lets you use new features like navigation with Google Maps, voice commands with Google Assistant, app downloads from the Google Play store, and updates over the air. This set of digital upgrades adds to the driver assistance technology already in the V60, making this pair of wagons high-tech. In our experience, the system isn’t as much of an improvement as you might assume, although upgrades can be issued over the air so that owners may notice changes over time. We’re also disappointed to see wireless charging go away.
Wagons have become endangered, and the two V60 models don’t sell as well as the XC60 crossover. But this only makes these wagons a better choice for people who aren’t afraid to be different.
chevron for plug-in hybrid performance and fuel economy
A turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine powers the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, and an electric motor powers the rear wheels to form an electric all-wheel-drive system in the V60 Recharge T8 Polestar Designed. According to Volvo, the V60 Recharge has a total output of 415 hp and 494 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to reach 60 mph in 4.3 seconds. Even though it goes fast, the Polestar V60 gets excellent gas mileage for a performance car.
The EPA ranks it as a hybrid at 31 mpg and an electric vehicle (EV) at 74 mpg. The V60 plug-in hybrid can travel 40 miles on a single charge. The Polestar Engineered V60 includes additional performance enhancements such as manually adjustable suspension with Hlins dampers, an Akebono brake kit, and 19-inch forged alloy wheels.
Capacity to travel across the country
The regular wagon is only available with Volvo’s T8 eAWD plug-in hybrid system. At the same time, the Volvo V60 Cross Country is only available with the brand’s B5 powertrain, which has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The power from the mild hybrid engine goes to the all-wheel-drive system through an automatic transmission with eight speeds. Volvo claims that 0-60 mph will take 6.4 seconds.
The EPA rates the V60 Cross Country’s fuel economy at 23/30 mpg city/highway. This high-riding wagon distinguishes itself even more from the V60 Recharge T8 Polestar. This vehicle is designed to impress with its raised suspension, black body cladding, and available beautiful plaid cloth upholstery inside.
Ratings and Characteristics of Safety
The Volvo V60 is not only attractive, but it is also safe. The IIHS gave the Recharge and Cross Country models a Top Safety Pick+ grade for 2022, the highest honour. The 2022 V60 Cross Country received a five-star overall crash test rating from the NHTSA.
Volvo includes an abundance of standard safety technology in both V60 models. Front and rear automated emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams are among the features. All V60s come equipped with adaptive cruise control and enhanced lane-maintenance assist, which Volvo calls Pilot Assist.
Cargo Capacity and Interior Room Comparison: V60 vs. XC60
SUVs aren’t necessarily roomier than station wagons. The load capacity of the Volvo V60 is higher than that of its crossover stablemate, the XC60.

Technology
Every V60 has a 12.3-inch digital gauge display and a 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen. The V60 will get Volvo’s new Android-based user interface in 2023. Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, and Google Maps navigation will be built right in. The infotainment system also includes Google Assistant voice commands, the Google Play app store, and the option to update over the air. The Polestar Engineered sports a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium setup, while the V60 Cross Country gets a 10-speaker audio system.
To sum up what I’ve said, this little Volvo might be worth looking at if you want something more practical for driving daily. It also can combat snow.
