BMW I Vision Dee. Virtual experience with driving fun
The name “BMW I Vision Dee” refers to Digital Emotional Experience because the primary goal of this car is to foster a stronger bond between drivers and their vehicles in the future.
At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 in Las Vegas, the BMW Group will present its vision of the future of the digital experience, both inside and outside the vehicle. It will also showcase the capabilities of its next newly designed BMW I Vision Dee mid-size car.
Beyond voice control and the current generation of driving assistance technologies, digital functionality will advance. The Head-Up-Display, which offers a view into the coming auto-generation, will be mounted along the windshield. This innovation will be provided on NEUE KLASSE vehicles starting in 2025.
With the BMW I Vision Dee, we investigate all the possibilities realized when mixing hardware and software, Oliver Zipps, Chairman of the Board of Management at BMW AG, said.
This technique enables us to fully utilize digitization to turn the car into an intelligent companion. Integrating genuine driving pleasure and virtual experience simultaneously is the future for automobile manufacturers and the BMW Group.
“The BMW I Vision Dee represents a new stage in the evolution of the NEUE KLASSE vehicles,” he explained further. This vision offers a glimpse of the vast future planet. We place a strong emphasis on the value of digitization in our upcoming product generations. Due to its cognitive capabilities, the BMW I Vision Dee may accompany drivers on the road and in virtual spaces.
A member of the BMW AG Board of Management in charge of development named Frank Weber stated, “BMW automobiles are differentiated by their exceptional digital performance. The seamless fusion of virtual and real worlds is the centrepiece of the BMW I Vision Dee. Any corporation that excels at various degrees of digital world integration with its cars will be able to rule the future automotive industry.
BMW Mixed Reality Slider
The BMW Mixed Reality Slider, the vehicle’s central control system, and the innovative head-up display highlight the digital features of the BMW I Dee.
Analogue clocks, driving information, communication system content, augmented reality projection, and admittance into virtual worlds are the five steps of the selection process. On the other hand, Dimmable windows can be used to hide the truth gradually.
Without any additional equipment, mixed reality may be experienced in the BMW I Vision Dee in an immersive, multi-sensory manner. This ensures that the user will experience driving differently.
Modern head-up display
In the automotive industry, the BMW Group is regarded as a pioneer in head-up displays and has steadily advanced this technology over the past 20 years.
The largest area that may be used for information display is made possible by the head-up show, which can only be referred to as a screen when turned on. The BMW Group is thereby reiterating the immense potential of “projection technology,” The BMW I Vision Dee demonstrates how an improved head-up display can also be utilized for production and operation in the future.
The NEUE Klasse vehicles will use the regular version of the BMW Head-up Display in 2025.
The user’s delight.
Welcome script with sound and realistic and virtual icons
A personalized welcome scenario that mixes graphic elements, lighting, and sound effects kicks off the digital experience even before you get into the car.
The headlights and closed grille represent how the physical and digital worlds have merged onto one surface. What causes the car’s various expressions?
The Dee may thus portray various emotions graphically, including happiness, surprise, and approval.
The driver’s avatar can also be seen in the side window of the BMW I Vision Dee.
Design down to the essentials, inside and out.
The BMW Group purposefully gave the BMW I Vision Dee a streamlined, simplified look to put more of an emphasis on the digital experience and the BMW brand’s DNA. The three-box sedan shape is reflected in the exterior design. This stands for the BMW name. Traditional design components, however, have undergone revision. The BMW I Vision Dee has distinct digital characteristics like the BMW grille.
Digitization works with reduced material design, operational controls, and displays to give a digital experience and a new sensation of enhanced driving pleasure within the car.
With a vertical centre rib that creates touch areas that interact when approached or touched, the steering wheel also has an unusual design. The thumb can be used to control it.
The content displayed on the windshield is chosen based on both physical and digital touchpoints. Thus, it backs up the saying “hands on the wheel, eyes on the road.”
Head of Design at BMW, Adrian Hoydonk, commented: “With the BMW I Vision Dee, we demonstrate how the automobile can easily merge into your digital life. It becomes a dependable friend and your portal to the online world. When the driver is entirely in charge, technology can provide fantastic experiences and improve your driving if appropriately used. It just increases the proximity between machines and people.
A new achievement on the way to the new class NEUE KLASSE
The BMW Group’s future is digital, circular, and electric. The BMW I Vision Dee symbolizes the digital component of this triple formula and will mark another significant turning point for the organization as it moves closer to the NEUE KLASSE, the following vehicle generation.
