Review of the 2023 Lincoln Nautilus, it is an SUV

The 2023 Lincoln Nautilus is a two-row luxury midsize SUV for drivers prioritizing comfort over performance. Pricing starts at $44,825

Lincoln no longer produces large, boat-like sedans but maintains its reputation as a luxury car manufacturer prioritizing comfort over performance. The 2023 Lincoln Nautilus is a midsize luxury SUV with a luxurious cabin, a quiet ride, and unintimidating technology. This luxury SUV is a practical choice due to its spacious interior and reasonable price. The Cadillac XT5 and Lexus RX are the Nautilus’ most direct competitors.

What’s new?

The Nautilus has made some modest modifications for 2023. The Standard grade now has a new Premium package with GPS, a power-adjustable steering column with memory, and a universal garage door opener. In addition, there are new wheel designs and Jewel Sandstone paint options.

Driving the 2023 Lincoln Nautilus

The Lincoln Nautilus cruises smoothly and quietly with a soft, comfortable suspension. It is one of the most comfortable SUVs in its class.

The base turbocharged four-cylinder engine is the more practical option for most luxury SUV buyers due to its lower entry price and better fuel economy. According to our testing, the standard engine produces plenty of power for daily commuting and never feels breathless on the highway.

However, the enthusiast in us adores the optional twin-turbo V6 offered on the Reserve and Standard level on the Black Label. It gives Lincoln more efficient acceleration, but the chassis is still oriented over comfort over performance. The Black Label’s adaptive suspension technology makes this SUV more elegant, but even with the V6; This is an SUV that emphasizes comfort and value over impressive performance.

from the inside

For 2021, Lincoln redesigned the Nautilus’ interior to look like a modern luxury SUV. The seats are roomy and comfortable, and rear passengers enjoy ample legroom and headroom. Plus, it has above-average cargo space for an SUV of this size, which enhances its usefulness.

One of our favourite features about this interior is its easy use of everything. The standard SYNC infotainment system’s 13.2-inch touchscreen is easy to use and never feels overbearing. The shift buttons require some tuning but contribute to a clean centre stack design that lacks a gas shifter.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t highlight the Black Label’s luxurious cabin. Two themes are available: the chalet theme with alpine white quilted leather and the airline theme with brown perforated luggage leather. In addition to the luxurious Venetian leather seats, Black Label cars are equipped with a 19-speaker Revel Ultima audio system, an Alcantara headliner, and a wireless charging pad, among other features.

Engine and transmission

The most popular engine for the Nautilus is the turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. This engine is an excellent match for this car, providing ample power and torque for most driving situations while still providing decent fuel economy when using regular petrol.

Its engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission smoothly. All-wheel drive (AWD) is optional. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard.

  • 2.0 litre turbocharged 4 cylinder
  • 250 hp at 5500 rpm
  • 280 lb-ft at 3000 rpm
  • EPA city/highway fuel economy: 21/26 (FWD), 20/25 mpg (AWD)

Gutsy V6

The optional twin-turbo V6 engine makes the Nautilus a more powerful SUV with slightly lower fuel economy than the base four-cylinder engine. It dramatically boosts the power and torque ratings to increase acceleration and improve exhaust sound.

The V6 uses the same eight-speed automatic transmission as the base engine. The standard on every Nautilus V6 is all-wheel drive.

  • 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6335
  • hp at 5500 rpm
  • 380 lb.-ft. at 3250 rpm
  • EPA city/highway fuel economy: 19/25 mpg
