2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport

The Chiron, a supercar from Bugatti for 2022, hasn’t changed, but the manufacturer has altered the ordering process. Customers can define their Chiron using a new customization application called Sur Mesure, which offers a virtually limitless number of options. You may add anything, including custom paint, exterior finishes, inside trim, racing stripes, and logos.

Although Bugatti has a very illustrious history in the auto and motor racing business, it now focuses on producing must-have toys for customers who already own them. Prices are astounding, design is outlandish, and engineering is uncanny. However, has the burden of Volkswagen ownership drowned out the romance of the badge? We’re taking the Chiron Super Sport for a test drive to discover out.

The W16 engine consumes fuel with an insatiable thirst and high insurance costs.

Even considering the ongoing expenses, it’s difficult to ignore the Chiron Super Sport’s startling asking price of €3.2 million (£2.8 million) plus local taxes. But the W16 engine consumes fuel with an incomparable thirst if you go to the brand’s palace to turn it on.

Additionally, because the insurance costs are so high, you’d prefer to keep the car in a garage, leave it with valet parking rather than take the chance of parking it yourself, get a hand-tuned custom paint job when the gravel is chopped, and have the neighborhood Bugatti guy tenderly maintain it when the dreaded service is due. Still desire it? Yours

Bugatti millionaires aren’t famous for filling in the annual What Car?

Since its products are given access to a sizable pool of research and development resources thanks to its former ownership by Volkswagen and the recent acquisition by a joint venture between Porsche and electric supercar specialists Rimac, Bugatti stands out well in this situation. However, since only 99 will be produced, billionaires who own Bugatti aren’t known for participating in the annual What Car? Dependability surveys and precise statistics on reliability are difficult to come by.

Additionally, most super sports only travel a few hundred miles annually. We give it excellent ratings because, as Chiron Super Sport owners have proven, everything can be mended with enough money. A four-year guarantee is also included; you might even have a lovely cup of tea while you wait.

The blind spot warning system would not have confused

It’s true, but the Chiron Super Sport doesn’t have a Land Rover Discovery’s front- or rear-view camera. But despite being a supercar, it offers good all-around visibility and significant levels of grip, which we first noticed when we accelerated enthusiastically with the right foot before rapidly realizing how incredible the braking was.

There is ABS and stability control, but not much else. There would still be a blind spot warning system. But we must admit, compared to some of the other high-performance hypercars we’ve driven, the Chiron doesn’t feel as simple to shove into the hedge. It can therefore have three points.

Flexible suspension system that doesn’t jiggle your chin

The Chiron is practically impossible to fit neatly into its lane because it is as wide as a river, flowing unabatedly along the way. The vast space for its riders is a plus in all of this. A happy time: Burgers can be consumed while driving a Bugatti. No, but it is surprisingly incredibly comfortable, with supple suspension that won’t bounce you around the track—a welcome surprise in a supercar that thrives on speed.

If parking the Chiron Super Sport anywhere wasn’t challenging, you could use it for daily transportation. There isn’t much storage room, but given that the annual distance is only 800, you won’t travel too far from home. We adore the C-pillar, which divides the compartment in half and curves from the seat to the ceiling, allowing each passenger to escape their opulent haze.

Heavy silver tablets in her pocket next to the driver’s door

The Chiron Super Sport has a GT vibe because it feels more like a practical vehicle than a punishment for performance. Which is a little depressing. When you press one of the four vertically stacked knobs in the center again, the same little glass panel displays performance data from your previous ride and the temperature and heated seat settings.

Including—and this is crucial—the top speed attained. The “speed switch,” a large silver lozenge in its pocket next to the driver’s door, is the most excellent feature. The Car will unlock to its actual top speed of 273 mph when you squeeze one end to release it, flip it open, and plug it into the little hole when the safety checks are complete. What more do you need? Your smartphone can also be connected.

We are close to half of the Car’s true capabilities

What does a century of progress in internal combustion engines amount to, if not a tribute to one of the last 16-cylinder, turbocharged, physics-defying, planet-shattering, 16-cylinder turbocharged fours? We’re talking a 0-62 mph time of 2.4 seconds, 1,600 horsepower, and 1,600 Nm of torque.

Because of its traction control, the Chiron is incredible. You think you can’t do it in the split second before you press the pedal because previous driving experiences in other automobiles have resulted in the tires churning for grip when you’re using a lot of power. However, the Chiron simply sags, and the rubber continues to dig so long as your nerve is active.

Nearly half of the Car’s potential is still untapped. But the stranger part is that you can also drive it at 30 mph in a town like its not-so-distant cousin, the Audi R8. It’s not a five-star car because we’re unsure if that’s a good thing in the long run. It is unique in every way. However, it lacks sentimentality, romance, or lyricism.
