Acura ZDX 2024 Review

The first all-electric SUV for Honda's premium brand the 2024 Acura ZDX.

Acura will again use the ZDX brand for its first battery-powered crossover. A new electric SUV replaced the original ZDX, which was retired in 2013.

The new ZDX, formally shown on Thursday at Monterey Car Week in California, is based on the Precision EV concept car the company debuted at the event’s annual showcase the year before. An 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, a first for Acura, and AcuraWatch 360+ with Hands-Free Cruise for cutting-edge safety and driver assistance are all standard on the all-new ZDX, which leans on its luxury identity. It also has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The hands-free assisting technology will be made accessible on 400,000 miles of roads for the first time in an Acura with the ZDX Type S.

While the more potent Type S will come with two motors providing 500 horsepower, the basic A-Spec is available with a single or dual motor producing 340 horsepower. Brembo front brakes and larger 22-inch wheels will be standard on the Type S. Both have a 3,500 lb. towing capacity.

Ultium in an Acura

A 102 kWh battery powers both variations. General Motors’ Ultium battery architecture is also utilized in GM’s Chevrolet Blazer and Equinox EVs and Honda’s forthcoming Prologue EV. There’s a reason why these little SUVs are similar to one another.

The single-motor A-Spec will have a 325-mile range; however, the Type S, although more powerful, would only go 288 miles on a single charge. Reduced to 315 miles is the dual-motor A-spec.

With DC fast charging speeds up to 190 kW, charging is anticipated to be swift. Acura predicts that a 10-minute drive will cover 81 miles. Acura has created a marketplace for installation and home charging equipment at home called Acura Home Electrification. Acura provides a dedicated app for finding outlets and making payments for public charging. Through Honda, Acura is a member of the group of automakers building a high-speed charging network in North America starting in 2024.

The low-lying, long-wheelbase ZDX incorporates several aspects of the Precision EV concept into production, including the Double Apex Blue Pearl exterior color for the Type S, even though it is an Acura SUV from the front end. On the Type S of the ZDX, a yellow-gold Tiger Eye Pearl will also be available.

Acura guarantees “high-end materials” inside with the assortment of technological capabilities on the 11.3-inch screen and the driver cockpit’s 11-inch screen.

How Much Will a 2024 Acura ZDX Set You Back? When will it be made accessible?

The specifics will be worked out closer to the start of production, but Acura expects the standard rear-wheel A-Spec to start in the $60,000 area and the all-wheel drive Type S to start in the $70,000 level.

Online bookings will be available shortly, but the first deliveries are scheduled for early 2024. A new digital sales method will be used to sell the ZDX.
