Mercedes-Benz E-Class: 2024

Mercedes-Benz E-Class: The Mercedes C-Class is a mid-size luxury car, and at first glance, you might not notice any differences between the old and new models. It retains the traditional three-box layout, but the “cab-in-the-aft” layout—characterized by a low overhang at the front, a long hood, and a cab mounted outside the front axle—gives it a modern twist.

The new E-Class improves on the classic design in several ways. The total wheelbase length is now 116.6 inches, an increase of 0.9 inches from before. As a result, everyone in the cabin benefits from an extra half-inch of legroom, and the slightly larger body also increases hip and elbow room. The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class has the most critical aesthetic improvements in its front and tail.

The three-star grille and illuminated fiberglass beams at the top and bottom of the grille perimeter are critical features of the new model’s design. The upgrade includes updated LED headlights and a new lower fascia, making the car look even more upscale than the outgoing model.

Mercedes gave the car a contoured shoulder line for eyes to trace from front to rear, and they introduced flush door handles that extend outward like the larger S-Class and EQS sedans. The rear lights are a continuation of the three-star design from the front. In addition to being narrower than before (much like the latest S-class), this one features a chrome strip above the headlights that spans 75 inches of the vehicle’s width.

The cabin of the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class features a new steering wheel design shared with the rest of the brand’s updated cars, as well as a supercharged screen. Although its 39-inch screen is less impressive than the Ultra Screen, the concept is the same. If specified, the driver and passenger can view content on their respective 12.3-inch screens.

Information and entertainment in the Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Naturally, the largest display is in the middle of the car and measures 14.4 inches. The new E-Class is equipped with 5G connectivity, which delivers significantly higher data rates than older LTE systems in areas with a 5G signal.

The camera on the dashboard, rather than the screen, will probably be the topic of conversation. The front and rear cameras are in that bump above the center console. While standing, you can now use tools like WebEx and Zoom for video conferencing, taking photos, and recording videos. Staying on topic with modifications made with Gen Z in mind, the infotainment system now comes with a portal called “ZYNC” that provides access to third-party streaming apps and TikTok and Angry Birds.

I’m unsure if retirees who usually buy the E-Class will find these amenities useful, but there you go for tomorrow’s opinion leaders. A group of TikToks featuring the new E-Class will likely appear soon, and we might add to it once we get behind the wheel.

Other features

If you use these streaming apps while standing, you can also take advantage of the active ambient lighting, which pulsates in sync with the music or movie you’re watching. The new E-Class also features autonomous AI capabilities, including climate management that learns your preferences and adjusts accordingly.

The E-class mild hybrid goes across the range.

Once we start tweaking the engine settings, it’s time to play Meet the New Boss again. The E 350’s 2.0-litre engine and the E 450’s 3.0-litre inline-6 will be initial offerings. Both have a 9-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive.

A mild hybrid starter-generator system slightly boosts power for both options. The electric motor may increase power by 20 horsepower and torque by 148 lb-ft for short periods. Overall, the 2.0-litre engine makes 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque (an increase of 22 lb-ft over the outgoing car).

The new 3.0-litre turbocharged engine in the new E-Class makes 375 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Here, you get an additional 13 horsepower at the same torque levels. In either case, the amount is insufficient to change the car’s performance significantly. We’ll have to see what happens, but Mercedes saves that card for the next AMG.

Rear axle steering is standard on the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class and is becoming more prevalent across the brand’s sedan lineup. The 4.5-degree rear-wheel steering feature allows the vehicle to reduce the turning circle from 36.5 feet to a minimum of 35.4 inches under 37 mph. Optional Airmatic air suspension automatically adjusts for payload height when the trunk is packed and lowers ride height above 74 mph in Comfort mode.

Most importantly, this E-Class model will not have a coupe or convertible body shape. The automaker discontinued these features in the C-Class and E-Class, and a convertible mode will replace them.

We don’t have official fuel efficiency figures for the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class yet, but we don’t expect it to be all that different from the outgoing model. The E 350 4Matic’s 2.0-litre, phase-down engine achieves 24 mpg combined, while the more efficient E 450 4Matic achieves 26 mpg combined.

Later this year, American consumers can purchase the all-new E-Class.

Mercedes-Benz will manufacture the new E-Class at the same plant in Sindelfingen, Germany, where the GLC crossover is produced. While we don’t have official pricing yet, we can tell you that the current E 350 4Matic costs around $60,400. We expect this model to cost at least a few hundred more than its predecessor, if not several thousand. The Mercedes E-Class is priced the same as the BMW 5 Series and is already slightly more expensive than the Audi A6.

We don’t know the exact release date for the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class in the US, but it will debut in late 2023. When we have more to announce, we will. Read also: Shanghai Exhibition. Impressive models of electric cars
